– UK, Windsor – Centrica plc is pleased to announce that Stephen Hester is to be appointed as a Non-Executive Director of the Company, effective from 1 June 2016. Stephen will become a member of Centrica’s Nominations and Audit Committees.

His wide-ranging commercial experience, particularly in customer-facing businesses, together with his recognised expertise in transforming performance will be of significant benefit to the Board as we implement our strategy.
In addition, Stephen brings a broad understanding of financial services and FTSE100 businesses, together with a deep knowledge of operating within highly regulated businesses.”
Stephen Hester has over 30 years’ experience in financial services and FTSE 100 companies. Stephen is currently Group Chief Executive of RSA Insurance Group plc. He previously held positions as Chief Executive of Royal Bank of Scotland Group, Chief Executive of British Land plc and Chief Operating Officer of Abbey National plc as well as a number of senior executive roles at Credit Suisse First Boston in London and New York. He has also held Non-Executive Director positions as Deputy Chairman of Northern Rock and a Director of Royal Bank of Scotland.
