CPLANE NETWORKS adds Mike Seashols to the Board of Directors as Chairman while Julie Shimer and Eric Wolford join the Advisory Board

– USA, CA – CPLANE NETWORKS, a leader in end-to-end data center and wide area network service orchestration that enables software-defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV) services to be launched and managed in a single environment, today announced an expansion to the leadership team with the addition of a Chairman of the Board of Directors and new members of the Advisory Board.

Mike Seashols has been appointed Chairman of the Board of CPLANE NETWORKS. Mr. Seashols was the initial vice president of sales and marketing at Oracle, founder and CEO of Versant, initial CEO of Documentum, and Chairman and CEO of Evolve, all of which had successful IPOs. Mike has contributed to the creation of over 20 companies and has managed or mentored over 40 CEOs during their careers. Mr. Seashols’ appointment significantly strengthens the current board of directors consisting of the two founders, Brandon Williams (CEO) and John Casey (CTO) as well as IgniteIP partner, Vlad Dabija, PhD.

Joining the Industry Advisory Board are Dr. Julie Shimer and Eric Wolford. Dr. Shimer brings 30 years of networking product development experience with major communications companies including Motorola, 3Com and AT&T Bell Laboratories. She currently serves as a director of two NASDAQ listed technology companies Netgear, Inc. (NTGR), and Earthlink (ELNK), as well as NYSE listed company Halyard Health, Inc. (HYH). Dr. Shimer contributes significant operational experience earned in both early stage technology companies as well as billion dollar enterprises. She formerly served as CEO of Welch Allyn, Inc., a manufacturer of frontline medical products and solutions, and was President and CEO of Vocera Communications, Inc., a provider of wireless communications systems. She holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University.

Eric Wolford is well known in the networking industry having recently retired as President of Riverbed Technologies, where he still serves on its board of directors. He is currently a venture partner with a leading venture capital fund in Silicon Valley. During his tenure at Riverbed, Mr. Wolford led a number of functions including products, marketing, business and corporate development, engineering and global consulting that helped to take the company public and to deliver growth from launch to $1B in revenue. Mr. Wolford also served as Senior Vice President of Products, Marketing and Business Development at NetVMG, a network management company acquired by Internap, and Vice President of Product Marketing and Management at Inktomi Corporation and FastForward Networks (which was acquired by Inktomi in October 2000), providers of content delivery management software.

“In my career, I’ve been fortunate to witness and influence seismic shifts in the Information Technology industry,” said Mike Seashols. “CPLANE NETWORKS is able to provide incredible simplicity, affordability and security to the largest and most complex networks. Its end-to-end network management automation capabilities enable software-defined networking and network function virtualization services to be launched and managed in a single environment which is unmatched by any offering in the market today.”

“I am so pleased to have this quality and depth of leadership and involvement at CPLANE,” said Brandon Williams, CEO of CPLANE NETWORKS. “Mike, Julie and Eric bring extraordinary business, technology and industry experiences and relationships that will help guide CPLANE in the next, exciting phase of our company’s development.
