LONDON, UK / NEW YORK, USA – First Avenue, a leading global private placement agent and investment advisory firm, is pleased to announce the appointment of Phil Pool as Co-Chairman. He joins Jonathan Davie, who has served as the firm’s Chairman since its inception in 2006. Mr. Pool will serve as a member of First Avenue’s internal management committee and advise on the overall strategic direction of the firm. In addition, he will contribute to the firm’s client sourcing efforts.
Mr. Pool has been a leader in the alternative fundraising business for over thirty years. He began his career as an investment banker at Kidder, Peabody & Co. After Kidder, Peabody, he was a senior professional on Merrill Lynch’s fundraising team. In 1994, Mr. Pool left Merrill Lynch and joined Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ), where he co-founded the DLJ Private Fund Group, which he and his partners built into a market-leading franchise. After DLJ was acquired by Credit Suisse in 2000, Mr. Pool joined Willis Stein & Partners, where he was a Managing Director responsible for business development and investor relations. Over his career, Mr. Pool has helped raise capital for many of the leading private equity firms in the world.
