Health Net appointed George Miller to the Board of Directors

– USA, CA – Health Net, Inc. (NYSE:HNT) today announced that it appointed George Miller, 69, to its board of directors, effective March 12, 2015.

Miller served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1975 through January 2015, representing the 11th district in Northern California.

During his service as a congressman, from 1975 to 2011 he served as the Chairperson of the House Committee on Education and the Work Force, which was one of the three committees responsible for passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in the House. Miller also served as the Chairperson of the House Committee on Natural Resources from 1991 to 1995, and served on the House Select Committee on Children, Youth and Families from 1982 to 1984. He also served as the Vice-Chair of the Democratic Committee on Steering and Policy for eight years and as a member of the House Committee on the Budget.

The company also announced the retirement of Patrick Foley, effective May 7, 2015. Foley served as a director of the company since April 1997 and as a director of a predecessor company since 1996. He currently is a member of Health Net’s compensation and governance committees.
