– UK, York – OptiBiotix Health plc (AIM:OPTI), a life sciences business developing compounds to tackle obesity, high cholesterol, diabetes and skin care, announces that further to the announcements dated January 2017 and completion of the normal regulatory due diligence, Per Rehné and Christina Wood have been appointed to the Board of OptiBiotix.
Per has many years’ experience of the food industry, having worked for some of the world’s leading food companies including most recently Cornelius Group plc where he acted as European Director of Health and Nutrition.
Christina has 25 years’ sales experience within the food, nutrition, and nutraceuticals industry. As the owner and CEO of Confoco, a supplier of high quality food ingredients worldwide, Christina grew the business from £1m to £11m sales by obtaining strategic supplier status with multiple global corporates including Nestlé, Danone, and Heinz.
OptiBiotix was formed in March 2012 to develop compounds which modify the human microbiome – the collective genome of the microbes in the body – to prevent and manage human disease.
The aim of OptiBiotix is to discover and develop microbial strains, compounds and formulations, which modulate the human microbiome and can be used as food ingredients and supplements or active compounds for the prevention and management of human metabolic diseases, examples of which include obesity, cholesterol and lipid distribution and diabetes.
OptiBiotix has established a pipeline of microbiome modulators that can impact on lipid and cholesterol management, energy harvest and appetite suppression.
