Toumaz appoints Dr Richard Steeves as Non-Executive Chairman

UK – Toumaz Limited (AIM: TMZ, ‘Toumaz’ or ‘the Group’), a pioneer in ultra-low power wireless semiconductor technology, has appointed Dr Richard Steeves as non-executive Chairman with immediate effect. Richard replaces former executive Chairman and Toumaz founder Prof. Chris Toumazou, who will remain on the Board as a non-executive director.

Richard joins Toumaz with considerable experience of global healthcare markets as the founder and CEO of Synergy Health plc (“Synergy”), a FTSE 250 provider of outsourced services to healthcare and health related markets. Having developed Synergy into a market leader in the NHS, he has led the development of Synergy’s expansion over the last decade into Europe, Asia and importantly the United States, a market that Toumaz sees as an early adopter of its SensiumVitals® technology. Richard also has experience in wider health and social care markets having previously held the position of deputy non-executive Chairman of CareTech Holdings plc, an AIM listed provider of care homes for clients with disabilities.

Richard holds a BSc from the University of British Columbia, Canada and a PhD from Cambridge University.

Anthony Sethill, CEO of Toumaz said: “We are delighted to have attracted someone as experienced and proven as Richard to the Board. He joins us at an important time for the Group, as we move rapidly towards commercialising our world leading healthcare monitoring technology, SensiumVitals®. His knowledge of the healthcare industry, experience with leading hospitals in the UK, Europe and the US and his breadth of corporate experience will prove invaluable.”

“On behalf of the Board, I’d like to thank Professor Toumazou for his contribution as CEO and more recently Executive Chairman. We are pleased to be retaining his expertise on the Board.”
