– UK, London – URENCO (LSE:44FK), a leading provider of uranium enrichment services to the world’s nuclear energy industry, announces that Peter Hill CBE will join the URENCO Ltd Board as Independent Non-executive Chairman on 12 October 2016.
Peter brings to URENCO a wealth of international experience in both private sector and government organisations. He is currently Chairman of Keller Group plc and of Volution Group plc, and is a Non-executive Director of Essentra plc and of the Royal Air Force. He was previously Chairman of the global specialty chemicals company Alent plc from 2012 to the end of 2015 and was Chief Executive of the technology company Laird PLC from 2002 to late 2011. He has been a Non-executive Director on the boards of Cookson Group plc, Meggitt plc and Oxford Instruments plc, and was a Non-executive Board Member of UK Trade and Investment.
His early career was spent with natural resources companies Anglo American plc, Rossing Uranium Limited and BP; he was an Executive Director on the Board of the engineering and construction company Costain Group plc and has held management positions with BTR plc and Invensys plc. Peter holds a BSc degree in Engineering, an MBA from the London Business School and is a Chartered Engineer.

Peter will take over from Stephen Billingham, who has been Chairman this year whilst the search continued to find a permanent independent Chairman. Stephen will retire from the Board in October 2016 after seven years’ service as a British Government appointed non-executive director and then Chairman. The URENCO Board thanks Stephen for his service to the company and his contribution to the Board and wishes him well for the future.
