Young & Co.’s Brewery announces Steve Goodyear as Non-Executive Chairman and Nick Miller as new Non-Executive Director

– UK, London – Young & Co.’s Brewery, P.L.C. (AIM:YNGA), announces that Nick Bryan is to stand down as Non-Executive Chairman and will retire from the Board at the end of the current financial year on 3rd April 2017. He will be succeeded in this role by Stephen Goodyear. Nick Miller will join the Board as a Non-Executive Director on 4th April 2017, being the first day of the new financial year.

Nick Bryan will have served as Non-Executive Chairman for six years, since July 2011, having joined the Board as a Non-Executive Director in 2006.

Stephen Goodyear was Chief Executive of Young’s from 2003 to July 2016, at which point he stood down from that role and became a Non-Executive Director, to be succeeded by Patrick Dardis. He originally joined Young’s in 1995, having previously worked for Courage Ltd for 21 years in a number of senior positions. In 2013 he was elected as Master of the Brewers’ Company, one of the oldest Livery Companies in the City of London.

Nick Miller has a wealth of experience in the hospitality, leisure and brewing sectors. Most recently he was CEO of Meantime Brewing Company, from 2011 to March 2016. He was previously Managing Director of Miller Brands, the UK arm of SAB Miller, the multinational brewing and beverage company.

Nick Bryan said: “It has been a privilege to be Chairman of Young’s during a period when the Company has cemented itself as a leader in our sector. As a Board, we have been planning carefully for my succession and, having overseen Patrick Dardis assume the CEO role last July, I feel that this year is the right time for me to stand down.

“There are few people with as much knowledge of, and passion for, our company and industry as Steve Goodyear. In the past seven months he has adapted very effectively to a non-executive role and I am delighted that, with the full support of the Board, he will be taking over as Chairman.

“Nick Miller has an excellent reputation in our industry and has achieved a great deal at both Meantime and SAB Miller. He will bring a strong and valuable external perspective to the Board.

“Taken together, the Board changes of recent months represent a very smooth succession. They will enable Young’s to move forward seamlessly, with an experienced and well-balanced Board and one that reflects the unique heritage and character of the business which is so central to our success.”

Patrick Dardis, Chief Executive of Young’s, said: “Nick Bryan has played a very important part in guiding Young’s to where we are today. We are all very grateful for his contribution, especially for his leadership since 2011, and for the far-sighted manner in which he has overseen the Board changes of the past year.

“With his intimate knowledge of Young’s, Steve will be a first-rate successor as Chairman. I very much look forward to working with him in that new role, and with Nick Miller when he joins us.”
