WyzAnt Tutoring appoints Ryan Sweeney and John Locke to its Board of Directors after a successful funding

– USA, IL – WyzAnt, a Chicago-based online marketplace for private tutoring, raised $21.5m.

Accel Partners provided the funding. As part of this investment, Ryan Sweeney and John Locke of Accel joined WyzAnt’s board of directors.

The company intends to use the funds to drive product innovation and scale its technology platform as it expands globally.

Founded in 2005 by Andrew Geant, CEO, and Mike Weishuhn, CTO, WyzAnt operates a tutoring marketplace which connects Parents and students seeking personalized learning experiences with tutors, who have access to payment processing and CRM tools.

Through its resources section, the company also offers educational content and resources such as free Q&A forums, lesson plans, videos, forums and blog posts.

The tutor community covers more than 240 subjects including elementary school subjects, college prep, and university level curricula.

The company expects to hire over 50 new employees (mostly engineers) in Chicago over the coming year.
