Seeing Machines appoints Les Carmichael to its Board as Non-Executive Director

– AUSTRALIA, Braddon – Seeing Machines Limited, (AIM: SEE), the AIM listed technology company with a focus on operator monitoring and intervention sensing technologies and services, is pleased to announce that Mr. Les Carmichael, 62, will join the Board as a Non-Executive Director with immediate effect.

Mr Carmichael, based in Dallas, is a veteran of the North American transportation and logistics sectors, where he has spent over 40 years of his professional career. Holding numerous senior management and operational positions, he has experience in all aspects of fleet logistics; sales, marketing, operations, business development, and turnaround management.

After a proven track record as Vice-President and General Manager of Dedicated Services at Swift Transportation Corporation, helping grow the business from $28 million to over $400 million over his tenure, Les became CEO of Taylor Companies, the largest independent crude oil transportation company in the US, where he recruited and managed the leadership team, with the fleet size growing by 25%. Les assisted in delivering a 3.8 multiple exit for private equity investors in Taylor Companies, and supported a successful IPO by the parent company.

Recently retired, Les serves on the board of directors of GlobalTranz, Inc., a venture capital funded, technology focussed, freight forwarding company operating in the US.

In 2015 Seeing Machines introduced Seeing Machines Fleet, an incident avoidance solution that helps drivers and fleet operators better manage fatigue and distraction events in real time. Unlike other in-cab video-based event recorders, Seeing Machines Fleet technology helps professional drivers avoid accidents and reduce the risk of governmental fines through an advanced set of distraction and fatigue detection technologies.

Terry Winters, Chairman of Seeing Machines, commented: “The board is delighted to welcome Les as a director. His deep experience of the US fleet market, his contacts in the industry and with regulators and his commitment to improving road and driver safety, will be invaluable as we grow our business in this very large and exciting global Fleet market. We look forward to Les’ contribution to the board and the value he can bring as a mentor to our sales team, especially in the very important US market.”
