Silent Circle adds Andrew Pinder to its Board of Directors

– SWITZERLAND, Geneva – Silent Circle, creator of the world’s first enterprise privacy platform, which includes the Blackphone 2, announced today that Andrew Pinder CBE – formerly the United Kingdom’s e-Envoy, reporting into then Prime Minister Tony Blair – has been appointed to it’s Board of Directors.

Andrew Pinder said: “Having worked for more than 30 years at the most senior levels in technology – in both the public and private sector – I know just how important security and privacy are in the transmission of data. Recent and increasingly common headlines about major data breaches in very well known organisations underline that. I believe that Silent Circle, and the technology it offers, is perfectly poised to give organisations the extra protections they need – and are entitled to – in this rapidly changing, increasingly intrusive and dangerous area. Now the company is pushing its technology even further – extending its reach from very secure, private voice and messaging into digital communications of all kinds, especially within government and enterprise. I find that really exciting.”

Bill Conner, Silent Circle’s CEO and President, said: “The addition of Andrew to our team reflects Silent Circle’s emergence as a genuine thought leader and innovator in secure communications – developing world-class products and services by world-class people. Andrew’s wealth of knowledge, experience and high-level contacts gives us another key resource as we work with growing numbers of enterprise, public and private sector customers who want privacy and data security at the heart of their communications.”

Mr Pinder – who has also served on the Intel Global Advisory Board, the Entrust Board of Directors and the Boards of a number of UK companies and organisations – was the United Kingdom e-Envoy from 2000 to 2004: leading and coordinating the development of the knowledge economy in the UK. In this role – where he also acted as the first UK Government IT head – he was instrumental in the digitalization of government and enterprise in the UK. Mr Pinder has also previously worked as Citibank Head of European Operations and Technology, Head of Global Operations for Citibank’s Global Transactional Services Business and Director of Systems and Business Operations for Prudential Assurance from 1990 to 1994. Before then, he was a senior UK Civil Servant and in charge of the UK Inland Revenue’s IT operation.
